The central character is Ramón Rodríguez as Will Trent, an Agent in the Georgia Bureau of Investigation (GBI).
What sets Will apart is: He grew up in a violent foster care system. He suffers from dyslexia, which he hides and overcomes with his extraordinary observational skills. He has the highest case-solving rate in the GBI. He always puts justice above personal feelings.
Each episode typically begins with a new case, but behind it lies a long, interwoven storyline about Will’s past, his family, the secrets of law enforcement, and his tumultuous personal relationships.
Each case reflects a social issue such as domestic violence, corruption, or abuse. Will’s dyslexia is not seen as a weakness but becomes part of his way of observing and solving problems. The dog Betty provides moments of lightheartedness, balancing the tense atmosphere of the film.
Season 5 is expected to continue the events following the conclusion of season 4: Investigating the aftermath of the final case; the turbulent relationship between Will Trent and Angie Polaski; new, larger-scale GBI cases; the development of Faith Mitchell, Amanda Wagner, and Michael Ormewood; and continued exploration of Will Trent’s past and personal life.
