WILL TRENT SEASON 5: WHICH STARS WILL RETURN — AND WHO WILL PART WAYS AFTER THE SHOCK OF A CHARACTER’S DEATH? bv01

Will Trent 5

The shocking ending of Will Trent season 4 completely changed the course of the series. The major losses not only stunned fans but also paved the way for a season 5 with a significantly altered cast. As ABC officially renewed the series, the biggest question was: which familiar faces will continue alongside Will Trent, and who will truly be saying goodbye?

It’s no surprise that Ramón Rodríguez will reprise his role as Agent Will Trent – the central character of the series. Following the events of season 4, Will will embark on a new chapter in his life, grappling with the loss of a loved one while simultaneously shouldering new responsibilities in both his work and personal life.

Although ABC hasn’t announced the full official cast list, many key members of the cast are expected to return, including:

-Erika Christensen as Angie Polaski.

-Iantha Richardson as Faith Mitchell.

-Jake McLaughlin as Michael Ormewood.

-Kevin Daniels as Franklin Wilks.

-Bluebell – the “four-legged star” playing the dog Betty.

Besides continuing to investigate new cases, these characters will have to adapt to the major changes within the GBI following the events of the end of season 4.

The character most affected by the ending of season 4 is Amanda Wagner, played by Sonja Sohn. The character died in the final part of the season, meaning Amanda will no longer be part of the main cast in season 5. Amanda’s death is considered one of the biggest shocks since Will Trent began airing. As Will’s mentor, superior, and source of emotional support, her death will create a huge void in the investigative team.

Another character not expected to return in a regular role is Dr. Seth McDale (Scott Foley). Following the tragic events at the end of season 4, this character passed away, ushering in a completely new phase for Angie’s story. This event is predicted to profoundly affect Angie, adding further emotional depth to her journey in season 5.

Although Amanda and Seth are unlikely to return in the present day, fans are still hoping the film might feature them through flashbacks or the characters’ memories.

Meanwhile, the producers have stated that the chances of Greg Germann returning as James Ulster as an “illusion” are low, as they want to conclude this storyline to pave the way for new developments.

In addition to retaining most of the key characters, season 5 will introduce a new GBI Deputy Director to replace Amanda Wagner. This character is expected to create new relationships, conflicts, and challenges for Will Trent and Faith Mitchell, while also bringing new energy to the series.

Simultaneously, the investigation into the human trafficking ring revealed at the end of season 4 will continue to serve as the central storyline, opening up opportunities for many new characters to appear.

Following heartbreaking losses, Will Trent is entering its most significant period of change since its debut. The departures of Amanda Wagner and Seth McDale mark the end of two crucial storylines, while Will, Angie, Faith, Ormewood, and Franklin will have to learn to adapt to a completely new reality.

Despite saying goodbye to some beloved faces, season 5 promises to maintain its appeal with complex cases, multi-layered mysteries, and deep character development. The combination of familiar faces and new characters will help Will Trent open a new chapter full of drama, emotion, and surprises for fans.
