Will Mel and Jack finally become parents in Season 7 of “Virgin River”? A new trailer for the season gives viewers a sneak peek at the highs and lows they’ll go through on their ongoing journey to parenthood.
It’s been a while since Season 6 dropped on Netflix (15 months, to be exact), so you might need a quick refresher on where things left off.
Before Season 7 premieres on March 12, we’re recapping five of the major developments from Season 6.
Mel and Jack Got Married and Got the Opportunity to Adopt a Baby

In the Season 6 finale, Mel and Jack finally said, “I do.”
Before walking down the aisle, however, Mel had to navigate a family emergency: her father Everett’s (John Allen Nelson) heart attack.
While getting ready for the ceremony, Mel got cold feet — not because she doubted her relationship with Jack, but because she was nervous to trust in the idea of “forever” with Jack after enduring so much loss in her life. Jack and Mel took some private time together and the groom reassured the bride that he would be around for the long haul.
At the wedding, Doc walked Mel down the aisle and Everett made a surprise appearance to sing a song for the newlyweds.
Earlier in the season, Mel met a young woman named Marley (Rachel Drance) who was going to give her unborn child away to a local couple. The day after her wedding, Mel got a call from Marley, who told her that the couple may be backing out of the adoption. Marley then asked if Jack and Mel would adopt her child.
Preacher Went on Trial for Murder But Reached a Settlement

When Paige (Lexa Doig) killed her ex-husband Wes (Steve Bacic) in self defense earlier in the series, Preacher (Colin Lawrence) helped her get rid of the body.
In Season 5, Wes’ brother Vince (Steve Bacic) falsely told the police that Preacher helped Paige kill Wes. When a fire in Virgin River led to the discovery of Wes’ body, Preacher was implicated in the investigation. Meanwhile, Paige was nowhere to be found.
In Season 6, Preacher went on trial for murder and faced life in prison. The prosecution surprised the defense by asking Jack to testify and shared a voicemail message from Preacher that seemed pretty damning at first.
Luckily, Brie (Zibby Allen) helped negotiate with the prosecution when they offered Preacher a plea deal. He opted against taking the plea and proceeded with the trial. When Preacher took the stand to testify, he admitted to burying Wes’ body in the woods but said Wes was already dead when he arrived on the scene.
After the jury was unable to reach a unanimous decision, Brie negotiated an even better settlement that got Preacher out of serving jail time. Instead, he had to do community service and he was charged with a misdemeanor.
Doc Was at Risk of Losing His Clinic
Tim Matheson as Doc Mullins and Annette O’Toole as Hope. (Netflix)
Throughout the season, Denny (Kai Bradbury) worked with Doc to learn more about the medical field. One day, Doc got called to assist with a medical emergency and Denny tagged along.
While visiting the patient’s house, Doc called a hospital to get some guidance on the best course of action and they suggested a risky procedure. When the phone connection died, Doc had to proceed on his own. Since it was a two-person job, Doc asked Denny to assist by holding the patient’s head in place while Doc performed the procedure.
Everything went well and the patient was expected to survive. However, Doc got in some trouble when he arrived at the hospital and another doctor questioned his methods. Later on, Doc’s medical license was suspended.
At the end of the season, Doc got insight into the situation when he discovered that another medical network was interested in his clinic since they were expanding their footprint into Virgin River. Afterwards, he began preparing himself for a legal battle.
Lark Was Conning Brady, Then She Drained His Bank Account
Elise Gatien as Lark and Ben Hollingsworth as Dan Brady. (Netflix )
Brady (Ben Hollingsworth) has a complicated past with Jimmy (Ian Tracey), a criminal from a prior season. In Season 6, Brie saw Brady’s girlfriend, Lark (Elise Gatien), visiting Jimmy in prison and learned that he is the father of her daughter. As it turns out, Lark was working with Jimmy to keep tabs on Brady and steal his money.
After Brie shared the news with Brady, he broke up with Lark. However, Brady and Lark eventually made up when she said she was really in love with him.
At Mel and Jack’s wedding, Lark overheard Brady telling Brie that he still loved her and would never feel the same way for anyone else. Later that night, Lark left town with her daughter and drained Brady’s bank account.
Charmaine Went Missing
Lauren Hammersley as Charmaine Roberts. (Netflix)
Mel and Jack’s relationship with Charmaine has certainly improved over the last few seasons — so much so that Charmaine agreed to be the hairstylist at Mel’s wedding. On the big day, though, she was a no-show.
Earlier in the season, Charmaine had started the process of obtaining a restraining order against Calvin (David Cubitt), the father of her twins, so Mel was concerned when Charmaine’s phone kept going to voicemail on the day after the wedding.
When Jack arrived at her house, he found the front door slightly ajar. Concerned that someone had broken in, Jack looked around the house and then wore a look of horror on his face when he stepped into the nursery.
