In an interview, Pattinson was asked, “How fun is it to play a character that everyone is not rooting for?” To which the actor replied, “It’s kind of like Jacob in Twilight.”
“What The Odyssey is about — Penelope just can’t make her mind up between the two guys, and I’m just trying to like help her make a decision. … It’s like, it’s fine. He’s dead, get over it,” he added.
Earlier, the actor also talked about how he enjoys exploring his bad side through his acting and playing these characters. He said, “I do. I like lowering people’s expectations. That’s always my favorite; that’s always my place to be. Undersell and overdeliver, that’s my motto.”
The actor compared his role to Jacob Black from Twilight, though he portrayed Edward Cullen in the Twilight series. In the series, vampire Edward Cullen and werewolf Jacob Black were part of a love triangle with a human, Bella Swan. Over the years, internet users have debated over which suitor was suitable for Bella. Many fans have long supported Team Jacob, though Bella ended up choosing Edward. Bella Swan was played by Kristen Stewart and Jacob Black was portrayed by Taylor Lautner.
Robert Pattinson plays the villain Antinous in the latest movie. The Odyssey is directed by Oscar-winning director Christopher Nolan and is currently running in theaters worldwide.
