After years of anticipation and waiting, the much-awaited reboot of the Twilight franchise is finally upon us. In a press release by Netflix last year, we learned that author Stephanie Meyer’s retelling of the original story was going to be adapted into an animated series by the streaming juggernaut.
But unfortunately, we didn’t receive any major confirmations regarding the release date of the series. Although by a rough estimation, many have concluded that late 2025 or early 2026 can be the period when we might get to stream the series on Netflix.
All That We Know About the Upcoming Twilight Saga TV Series Midnight Sun

First reported to be in the initial stages back in 2023 at Lionsgate TV (via The Hollywood Reporter), the structure and nature of the project were still unknown. Then, fast forward one year to 2024, and along with Lionsgate, Netflix made its big announcement of the animated series.
Since then, we know that the upcoming series will be based on Meyer’s 2020 novel, Midnight Sun, which is a retelling of the original story, but now narrated from Edward Cullen’s perspective with just a little bit of new lore.
It was also stated by Netflix that Meyer herself would be on the production committee as an executive producer in association with Fickle Fish Films. while details on the directors are still unknown. We also don’t know whether Robert Pattinson will be reprising his role as Edward Cullen to voice the character in the series.
Then again, it would seem highly unlikely that either Pattinson or Stewart would return to the franchise after openly stating their dislike for the franchise, which generated $3.3 billion. Therefore, all we can do now is wait for any additional information to surface.
Lionsgate Rekindles Twilight’s Popularity With Series Re-Release in October

After Lionsgate acquired Summit Entertainment in 2012, it was expected that the production company would be doing something with the franchise in the future.
