The hour-long wrap-up for Georgie & Mandy’s First Marriage Season 2 told two separate stories, but not really.
The first half set up the second, with Audrey forced to confront Connor’s growing need for independence, while Georgie and Mandy faced two separate crises.
The final scene seemed unnecessary and hopefully was a throwaway joke rather than a real cliffhanger, but overall, the episodes left me hungry for Season 3.

Audrey Facing Connor’s Newfound Independence Is a Strong Arc
Both halves of the Georgie & Mandy’s First Marriage Season 2 finale put Audrey and Connor on a collision course.
Connor wanted independence — first to have the relationship that he wanted with Chloe, then to go on this road trip despite Audrey’s misgivings. It was hard to blame him, though it was also difficult to disagree with Audrey’s fears and desire to protect him.
It wasn’t common in the 1990s, when Georgie & Mandy’s First Marriage Season 2 takes place, for people to be diagnosed as autistic or otherwise neurodivergent, but Audrey is aware that her son is different in some ways and that influences her decisions when it comes to him.
However, there’s a fine line between protecting a young adult who has social deficits and stopping him from experiencing life, and Audrey began to cross that line by policing Connor’s choices during Georgie & Mandy’s First Marriage Season 2 Episode 21.

Connor was 100% right that he couldn’t get any life experience, with peer pressure or anything else, if he stayed at home listening to Audrey’s fears.
Throughout the second half of the Georgie & Mandy’s First Marriage Season 2 finale, Audrey’s terror at not hearing from Connor was understandable, though annoying.
I kept feeling as if something bad was about to happen to Connor, though, and I hate that I was right.
I’d have preferred for Connor to have proven Audrey’s fears wrong, but the series threw that away for a season-ending scene that could have been a throwaway joke or a cliffhanger for Season 3.
Connor finally called… from the Lubbock police station, where he was determined not to tell his mother he’d been arrested. Since there were no hints of what happened, it’s unclear whether this is the beginning of something that will continue in the fall.
