The Big Bang Theory had some epic love stories.
The popular CBS series — which ran from 2007 until 2019 — starred Jim Parsons as Sheldon Cooper, Johnny Galecki as Leonard Hofstadter, Kaley Cuoco as Penny, Simon Helberg as Howard Wolowitz and Kunal Nayyar as Raj Koothrappali.
Across its 12 seasons, fans watched as several of the show’s beloved characters evolved from awkward singles to bride and groom. Leonard fell for Penny, Howard was smitten with Penny’s co-worker Bernadette and Sheldon also met his match in an unexpected way.
As some of them settled into married life, even starting families, Raj was the only member of the core group who didn’t end up with a romantic partner after his relationship with Anu (Rati Gupta) fell apart in the penultimate episode.

Sheldon and Amy

Sheldon found his match with fellow scientist Amy Farrah Fowler (Mayim Bialik). The couple met during season 3 when Howard and Raj set up an online dating profile for Sheldon, who was soon matched with the neurobiologist.
Although Sheldon was initially blackmailed into meeting Amy, the duo quickly bonded over their similarities and went on their first official date in season 4. The couple experienced ups and downs over the course of the next few seasons, from a swoon-worthy kiss on Valentine’s Day in season 7 to their split in season 8.
Eventually, Sheldon got down on one knee and asked Amy to be his wife in season 10. They went on to tie the knot during the season 11 finale. In the last episode of the series, the happy couple won a Nobel Prize in Physics together.
Leonard and Penny

Leonard had eyes for Penny from the start, developing a crush on her as soon as she moved across the hall in the pilot episode. While his roommates thought Penny was out of his league, Leonard still worked to win her over during the first season.
The couple didn’t have their first date until the season 1 finale. But after deciding they might be better off as friends, Leonard and Penny dated other people during season 2. The pair went on to have an on-again, off-again relationship, which reached a turning point when Leonard proposed to her while they were in bed together in season 5.
Penny turned down Leonard’s proposal, but they continued to date. It wasn’t until season 7 that they officially got engaged. The couple went on to have two weddings in seasons 9 and 10. By the end of the show, the pair were getting ready to become parents after Penny revealed she was pregnant.
Howard and Bernadette

Howard and Bernadette Rostenkowski’s (Melissa Rauch) whirlwind love story began when they met in season 3 after being set up by Penny. After a brief split, the couple got engaged by season 4 and wed the following season.
Their relationship, however, wasn’t without its obstacles. Howard struggled adapting to married life, specifically with leaving his mother’s house and moving in with Bernadette. But no matter what life — or the show’s writers — threw their way, the duo made it through together.
In season 9, Bernadette revealed that she was pregnant with their first child. They welcomed daughter Halley in season 10, and their family expanded when son Neil Michael arrived in season 11. In the final season, they were happily adapting to life as a family of four.
