Hollywood shockwave: Missy Peregrym and Zeeko Zaki are officially married! hue01

FBI‘s Special Agent Omar Adom “OA” Zidan (Zeeko Zaki) is gearing up for his most dangerous assignment yet.

During the season 8 finale of the CBS procedural, which aired May 18, OA and his longtime partner, Maggie Bell (Missy Peregrym), investigated a deadly bioweapon threat tied to Anna Vorpe (Claire Coffee), a shadowy government-linked player at the center of the case.

After OA refused to participate in a cover-up, he was fired from the FBI team — at least publicly. The episode’s final twist revealed that Anna’s subsequent job offer to OA was actually part of a larger undercover plan involving Maggie and Isobel Castille (Alana De La Garza), the special agent in charge of the New York field office.

In season 9 of FBI, OA will be embedded in Anna’s operation — and Zaki says the mission could push his character into morally complicated territory.

“Getting to see OA on a different team will be fun to watch and film. I’m excited to play something different, but I’m also eager to get back to the team,” he told TV Insider in May 2026. “But it will be fun regardless.”

Here’s everything Zeeko Zaki has said about OA’s future on FBI.

During the season 8 finale of FBI, titled “Defector,” OA’s future with the bureau was left hanging in the balance after a high-stakes case involving a stolen bioweapon.

OA and Maggie were forced to work with Anna, a dangerous and elusive government operative tied to the lethal pathogen at the center of the episode. After the team failed to secure the bioweapon before a bus full of civilians was infected, they pivoted to tracking down the antidote that could save them.

But the mission took a violent turn when Anna’s team turned on OA and Maggie, brutally beating them before fleeing with the antidote. Her operatives claimed they had their own “orders,” leaving the FBI team in the dark.

Back at FBI headquarters, OA and Maggie were told that “today never happened” and ordered never to speak of the incident again. OA was disturbed by the government’s attempt to bury the mission, especially after civilians had been put in danger. When he refused to participate in the cover-up, FBI ADIC Lawrence Green (Curtiss Cook) fired him.

Still, OA’s exit was not what it appeared to be. While sitting at a bar afterward, he was approached by Anna, who believed the bureau had cast him out. She offered him a spot on her off-the-books strike team, which operates for the U.S. Department of Defense.

OA then contacted Maggie and their boss, Isobel, to confirm that he was “in,” revealing that his public dismissal was actually part of a larger undercover plan. The twist set him up to infiltrate Anna’s operation in season 9.

OA will remain a key player in FBI season 9. While the season 8 finale made it seem like he was out after being fired for refusing to participate in a cover-up, the episode’s final twist revealed that his exit from the team was, in fact, a ruse to infiltrate Anna’s strike team.

However, only a select few people knew the truth. Showrunner Mike Weiss told TV Insider that no one beyond Maggie and Isobel was clued in at the time — including Green, who fired OA.

“We wanted to go with the notion that this was so sensitive and taking down the strike team was so top secret that in the moment, the only people who knew were his partner and his boss,” Weiss shared. “By the time we start season 9, I think the rest of the team will have been read in on the assignment.”

Weiss added that Green’s reaction should be especially interesting given that Isobel reports to him.

“Green was not in on it. And I think that getting to see Isobel read Green in on it at a certain point will be delightful, and I can’t wait,” he said.

What has Zeeko Zaki said about OA’s new assignment?

While speaking to TV Insider, Zaki said he has mixed feelings about OA’s new assignment.

He’s excited to explore the undercover storyline but admitted it will be “tough” for OA to be away from his FBI family, especially Maggie.

“[I’m] hoping to pretend, maybe, to be a bad guy for a little while — it will be something new to play with,” Zaki said. “Anything new is exciting, but most of all, I can’t wait to see the journey Maggie and I go on. That will always be my favorite part of the show.”
