The first season of Taylor Sheridan’s The Madison, starring Michelle Pfeiffer and Kurt Russell, is already complete after the release of Episodes 4-6. Is there another season of the drama on the way?

Created by Sheridan, The Madison Season 1 premiered on Paramount+ with the series’ first three episodes on March 14 and wrapped up with a second block of three episodes on Saturday. The series stars Pfeiffer and Russell as Stacy and Preston Clyburn, a successful New York City couple with two grown daughters, Abby (Beau Garrett) and Paige (Elle Chapman).

Note: Spoilers from the Madison are discussed throughout the remainder of the article.

The madision renewed for season 3

Season 1 Episode 1 of The Madison finds Preston visiting his younger brother, Paul (Matthew Fox), at Paul’s remote home and the land they own together in the wilds of Montana. When Preston and Paul are flying back from a fishing trip, Paul loses control of the plane during a severe storm, and the brothers die in a crash in the forest.

Devastated by the crash, Stacy and the Clyburn family travel to Montana to identify Preston and Paul and wrap up estate issues. Feeling like she didn’t appreciate her husband’s love for the Montana wild, Stacy maintains that the best way to maintain her connection to him and process her grief is to take up residence in Paul’s vacant home, a decision that Abby and Paige object to.

While most series generally need to find success in viewership before getting renewed, Sheridan and Pfeiffer pushed for two seasons of The Madison before shooting even began, Russell told Entertainment Weekly in a January interview.
Also in the EW interview, Russell let the cat out of the bag about Season 2 of The Madison happening, even though it wasn’t officially greenlit by the streaming platform at the time.

‘The Madison’ Season 2 Will Also Contain 6 Episodes
In addition to pitching two seasons of The Madison, Taylor Sheridan and Michelle Pfeiffer faced another monumental task in landing Kurt Russell for the series. It turns out that Russell’s shooting schedule with the second season of his Apple series Monarch: Legacy of Monsters nearly prevented his participation in The Madison, so the duo needed to come up with a creative solution.

“Michelle Pfeiffer and Taylor were able to get together with the people at Paramount+ and said, ‘Well, let’s do two seasons instead of just one,’” Russell told EW. “‘And then before we start the second season next year, instead of doing that, we will start with Kurt’s stuff. We really do want him to play the guy. And we’ll get his first season out of the way first, and jam all that in there, and then go into the second season and do that.’ And so we were able to do that.”

As such, The Madison got a 12-episode order, with six episodes for Season 1 and six more for Season 2.

The release date for The Madison Season 2 has not yet been announced, but it could come sooner than later, considering Elle Chapman posted in an Instagram story (via EW) that filming for Season 2 is already complete.

All six episodes of The Madison Season 1, which also stars Patrick J. Adams, Amiah Miller, Alaina Pollack, Ben Schnetzer, Kevin Zegers, Rebecca Spence and Danielle Vasinova, are streaming Paramount+.
