Georgie & Mandy’s First Marriage ended the penultimate episode of its second season by paying tribute to a beloved member of the show’s crew, Phyllis Gilliam.

The May 21 episode concluded with a brief dedication to Gilliam, who died on March 23. She was 67 years old.

Gilliam, who served as the production’s costume supervisor for most of its first season, died after a battle with stage IV cancer. According to her obituary, the Mobile, Ala. native was diagnosed in 2024, roughly a year after her husband Murray Gilliam received the same diagnosis.

“They spent the next year and a half courageously battling this terrifying condition, their love growing stronger even amidst the uncertainty and sadness that follows this disease,” the obituary reads.

Murray, a personal trainer and U.S. Marine Corps veteran, passed in January. Two months later, Gilliam was brought to the hospital for unnamed health issues. Per her obituary, the costumer died “surrounded by friends and family who poured over her with love, reminiscing about their favorite moments with this beautiful woman, and watching It’s a Wonderful Life,” her favorite movie.

“On that day, the world was a little bit less light,” it continues.

Gilliam’s prolific career as a costume designer and supervisor spans three decades. Her IMDb profile boasts work on around 30 films and television series, including The UpshawsMiracle WorkersHome Economics, and Ghosts.

According to her obituary, Gilliam fell in love with theater and costume design while pursuing her bachelor’s degree at Xavier University. She later obtained a master’s degree in the field from the University of Houston. Gilliam moved to Los Angeles in the 1980s to pursue her passion.

She kicked off her career by working on the NBC comedy series Just Shoot Me!, then moved on to The Big House and Stacked. Other titles on her résumé include MulaneyMob CityNumb3rs, and Marvel’s Agent Carter.
