BOSTON BLUE’s Donnie Wahlberg just shared an important, faith-filled reminder with his social media followers.
“Happy Sunday!” he captioned an Instagram video. “Heavenly Father, thank you for your love, your grace, your faithfulness and your goodness! Thank you for every person who sees (or hears) this. Whomever they are, whatever they are going through or struggling with, may they know that they are not alone. In Jesus name, Amen!”
In the video, Wahlberg uses a voice-over that reminds the viewers, “God is with you. God is for you. God sees you. God hears you. God knows you. God cares about you. God loves you.”
The actor previously spoke about his recent faith journey, explaining in an interview earlier this year, “Of all the things I did in my life, just in the last year, I gave my life to Christ, and that’s the most important thing of all the things I did.”
“So, I’m a dad, and that’s important, and I raised my sons, and they’re good men, and I’m proud of a lot of things I did, but it doesn’t matter as much as giving my life to Jesus,” Wahlberg added.
In an episode of “The George Janko Show” podcast, Wahlberg shared that he struggled with religion when he was younger, as it seemed to be all about “rules, restrictions, regulations.” However, he soon realized “Christianity in itself is faith, obedience, right?”
“But I think that obedience comes…It’s a joyous sacrifice,” he continued. “ It’s not a rule, like, you will never listen to this again. It just kind of happens. Because I want to build the relationship.”
Wahlberg is gearing up for the premiere of BOSTON BLUE’s second season, which hits screens this October. While the show is set in Boston, Wahlberg recently explained why BOSTON BLUE doesn’t actually film in the city.
“When I got offered the job, I’m like, ‘This is a dream come true.’ I thought, I’ll do a spinoff in LA or Vegas or Texas, somewhere hot,” Wahlberg told SiriusXM. “And they were like, ‘How about Boston?’ I was like, ‘Ahhhh.’ They hooked me. And I was like, ‘Alright, let’s do it in Boston.’”
Wahlberg continued, “And they were like, ‘But we can’t afford to shoot it in Boston, we’re gonna shoot it in Toronto.’ I was like, ‘No, no.’ So, I said, ‘Listen, I’ll give back 50% of my paycheck if we can go to Boston.’ I did. And they said, ‘You can give back 100% and so can the rest of the cast, we cannot film this show in Boston.’ It’s so expensive. For the most part, we shoot in Toronto.”
Wahlberg’s recent social media post is one more way the actor is choosing to share his faith with others, encouraging them in their own relationships with the Lord.
