The Season 8 finale of FBI threw fans off with OA Zidan seemingly leaving the team. The actor who plays OA, Zeeko Zaki, has explained the shocking moment and the character’s future.
OA’s future after FBI Season 8 revealed by Zeeko Zaki
OA is not leaving FBI as Zeeko Zaki shared that he will now have an undercover arc.
“[I’m] hoping to pretend, maybe, to be a bad guy for a little while — it will be something new to play with,” he told TV Insider.
The actor appears to relish the chance to shed OA’s moral certainty and occupy a greyer space, if only temporarily. Yet it is the distance from Maggie that lingers in his comments. “Anything new is exciting, but most of all, I can’t wait to see the journey Maggie and I go on. That will always be my favorite part of the show.” He described the separation as “tough,” a word that carries weight given how important that partnership has been since the pilot.
FBI Season 8 finale, which aired on May 18, threw viewers a curveball that, for a few tense minutes, looked like the end of the road for Agent OA Zidan. He was fired on the spot after refusing to go along with a cover-up tied to Anna Vorpe, a shadowy figure with government connections who was orchestrating a bioweapon threat. Maggie Bell and OA had been chasing her for the entire episode, and the dismissal felt abrupt, final, and unfair.
But OA’s termination was a performance. Maggie and Isobel Castille had orchestrated the entire charade so he could slide into Vorpe’s inner circle as an undercover operative. “Getting to see OA on a different team will be fun to watch and film. I’m excited to play something different, but I’m also eager to get back to the team,” Zaki said, adding, “But it will be fun regardless.”
All in all, OA’s future hasn’t ended, as it will continue in FBI Season 9.
