Kristen Stewart is ready to revisit TheTwilightSaga in a big way.
In an interview with Entertainment Tonightat the Palm Springs International Film Festival Creative Impact Awards on Jan. 4, the actress, 35, revealed she’d be interested in working on a remake of the Twilight films as a director, rather than as an actress.
“I love what all of the directors did with the movies,” she told the outlet. “They were so themselves and weird and kind of like, squirrelly, and just so present in that time when they didn’t really know what [the films] were yet, like before they blew up.”
Stewart, who is best known for her role as Bella Swan in the vampire romance series, recently made her directorial debut with the film The Chronology of Water and took the opportunity to think about what a Twilight remake could look like with “a huge budget and a bunch of love and support.”
She then added, “I’ll do the remake. I’m doing it! I’m committed!”
Is a new Twilight remake in the works?
In 2023, The Hollywood Reporter confirmed that a television remake of The Twilight Saga is in the early stages of development. While there is no expected release date yet or any other information on the television series, the outlet confirmed that author Stephanie Meyer “is expected to be involved” in the project.

Stewart also shared how her work in movies from a young age influenced her approach to her role as a director for the first time.
“I’ve been working in other people’s films for my whole life, since I was nine years old,” she told Entertainment Tonight. “I feel like everything’s been building to this moment, where I was able to find a little space for myself [to direct]. I can’t believe people are even watching my movie.”
In an interview with The Hollywood Reporter back in December 2025, Stewart opened up about studying the directors she worked with over the years and specifically recalled “admiring” Twilight director Catherine Hardwicke’s ability to incorporate her own personal touches into the film.
“That [first] Twilight movie is hers and reflects her; Catherine accomplished that, hands down,” she said. “Being able to withstand and organize that many opinions, and still make something that feels like yours, is near impossible to do. With so many voices in the room and with so much expectation, nothing feels personal.”
