Following his recent departure from Grey’s Anatomy, Kevin McKidd has now found his next role, starring in Hulu courtroom drama Conviction.

The series, which is led by The Handmaid’s Tale star Elisabeth Moss, follows Neve Harper, a confident attorney who finally has her shot at a career-making case. The case in question is around a high-profile murder in which the husband is accused of killing his wife by setting their home on fire.

The synopsis for the series says: “But when a mysterious stranger begins blackmailing Neve, she is forced to compromise every legal, moral and ethical obligation to gain an acquittal — or else risk her dark secrets being exposed.”

The series is based on the novel of the same name by Jack Jordan, and is being showrun by David Shore, who is known for his work on House and The Good Doctor.

Following reports of McKidd’s casting in an unknown role, the actor confirmed the news himself in a post on Instagram, writing: “So excited to be joining such an incredibly talented and experienced creative team, #elizabethmoss and the @hulu family once again! #convictionhulu

Alongside Moss and McKidd, the cast of Conviction also includes Linda Emond, Jimmi Simpson, Sebastian De Souza, Adam Godley, Zainab Jah, Ashley Zukerman and José Zúñiga.

Earlier this year, McKidd also joined the cast of ITV psychological thriller, The Only Suspect, which will follow a devoted couple whose picture-perfect suburban life hides a devastating truth.

When the actor’s departure from Grey’s Anatomy after 18 years was confirmed in March, McKidd said in a statement: “Grey’s Anatomy has been a huge chapter of my life, creatively and personally… Playing Dr Owen Hunt and directing on the show have both shaped me enormously.”
