Rip Wheeler might not know anything about fashion, but the Dutton Ranch star is a pro when it comes to living out of a capsule wardrobe. Because of his steadfast dedication to his signature look—a black button-up and dark work jacket, paired with lived-in denim, a sizable belt buckle, brown boots, and a dark cowboy hat—seeing him in anything but feels nothing short of unnatural. And that’s precisely why fans can’t get over the foreman’s latest look.
On Friday, June 19, the seventh episode of Dutton Ranch dropped. Throughout “Den of Sin,” Beth, Rip, Carter, Beulah, and the gang are gearing up for the 10-Petal Ranch 190th Anniversary celebration. Rip, being Rip, planned to wear his regular garb; Beth, being Beth, however, had other plans.
“I feel f—ing ridiculous,” Rip says in a clip from the episode, looking dapper in dark pants, a white dress shirt, and a sport jacket. Carter, who is also dressed up for the festivities, jokingly responds, “You look f—ing ridiculous.” “That makes two of us,” Rip laughs.
While a simple outfit change might not seem all that newsworthy, longtime Yellowstone fans disagree. “I’m not typically critical of anything when it comes to these shows… So here’s my one and only critique: That suit did not get enough screen time in this episode… that is all,” one fan commented on photos from the episode on the official Dutton Ranch Instagram page. “Cole Hauser is one fine man. He made a lot of women fall in love with Rip Wheeler,” someone else chimed in. “When he stepped out in the suit! Rip Wheeler, the man that [you] are,” another fan ogled. “The hat is everything! The essence of him,” someone else commented with a praise emoji.
Of course, Beulah might have said it best. Upon seeing Rip and his family ride up (yes, ride up!) to the party on horseback, even she couldn’t help but double-take, claiming he looked, “Sharp enough to cut glass.”
Even if Rip’s suit was a one-and-done event in the series, there’s no doubt we’re about to get more jaw-dropping moments from him and Beth in the final two episodes of Season 1.
