Bridgerton Season 4 Part 2 returned with the conclusion of Benedict and Sophie’s fairytale love story. But it also included some steamy intimate scenes, characteristic of Netflix‘s Regency-era show. In the final episode, Benedict and Sophie get intimate in the bath, a scene Luke Thompson and Yerin Ha reportedly shot for over 6 hours.

During an appearance on Capital Breakfast, Ha explained that the scene turned out to be rather a headache for her, as it left her with Folliculitis.
Folliculitis is a pretty common skin condition, where hair follicles become inflamed or infected, causing small red bumps or worse. Ha reckoned that it was likely because of the combination of baby powder and the bath water, as they filmed the scene for over six hours.

Yerin Ha on Sophie’s Power Shift During the Bathtub Scene

The bathtub scene in Bridgerton Season 4 Part 2 was one of the steamiest scenes featured in the show, and for good reason, too. Sophie, who has been subjected to intense scrutiny and is forced to be submissive all her life, is finally out of the shadows.
Benedict not only truly loves her but also accepts her as she is. This allows Sophie to finally have some agency and control over her life. During the bathtub scene, she pushes Benedict back in a display of dominance and newfound confidence.

Not only does it show how comfortable they are, but it also shows Sophie being confident in what she wants. Yerin Ha recently talked about the importance of the gesture in an interview with Harper’s Bazaar.
However, the scene was not easy to film as Ha later revealed. The actress also went into how their intimacy coordinator came up with different ideas to make the scene more steamy.
Well, their 6-hour-long filming of the bathtub scene certainly bore the desired results. Not only did it fit perfectly with her character, but fans also enjoyed watching it.

Playing Sophie Taught Yerin Ha Self-Love and Acceptance

Sophie Baek is no easy character to play. Despite her Cindrella-esque inspiration, Sophie is more thoughtful and strong than the fairytale heroine. She is also living a double life, struggling to accept her real self while trying to find her footing in the cruel world.

However, she eventually realizes her true worth and does not get swayed by Benedict’s promise that love will be enough to keep them safe. In an interview with InStyle, Yerin Ha talked about playing the titular character and how the portrayal helped her to love herself more.
“Being a woman in this industry, it’s a massive thing. People think that they have the right to talk about your body, how you look, and your external appearance. I’ve dealt with body image and that shame for a very, very long time — and I’m still working through it. But what’s been really nice about Sophie is she’s taught me a lot about self-love and self-acceptance. I’m still working on accepting myself for my entirety and being happy with who I am. In a world where we strive for perfection, what does that look like?”
