lose observers of the Taylor Sheridan universe may remember that the creator’s latest series, The Madison, has had a somewhat unconventional route to the screen.
The series was originally touted as a spinoff of Sheridan’s mega-hit Yellowstone, tentatively to star Matthew McConaughey, before serval years and iterations turned it into a standalone series starring Michelle Pfeiffer and Kurt Russell. Likewise, despite the series apparently starting production before Yellowstone ended its run in 2024, the show didn’t actually debut until March of this year—several months after it had been revealed that they had already filmed not one, but two seasons. We’re still waiting for word on exactly when that second season will materialize, but, in yet another unconventional move, we now know that (whenever it premieres) it won’t be the last.
Paramount+ announced today that The Madison has already been picked up for a third season. So far, no other details about the third season have been revealed.
Following the story of Manhattanite Stacy (Pfeiffer) who begins exploring the wide open spaces of Montana in the wake of the death of her husband Preston (Russell), The Madison delves into issues of family and grief in ways that have clearly resonated with viewers. The series garnered Sheridan’s highest-ever debut viewership, according to Paramount+, pulling in 8 million viewers in its first 10 days.
The series, which dropped its six-episode first season over the course of two weeks last month, also stars Patrick J. Adams, Beau Garrett, Elle Chapman , Amiah Miller, Alaina Pollack, Ben Schnetzer, Kevin Zegers, Rebecca Spence, Danielle Vasinova, Matthew Fox, and Will Arnett. It’s not currently clear who from the cast could return for a third season, though the unusual filming schedule for the show’s first two outings were reportedly done to accommodate Russell, who filmed his scenes for both seasons after principal shooting on season one had wrapped.
