Twilight actor Jackson Rathbone has released his latest project, taking things from the screen to the recording studio.
The actor, who played Jasper Hale in the beloved vampire movie franchise, first announced his new band, Starmother, in Aug. 2026. On Sept. 4, the duo, which consists of Jackson and his wife Sheila Rathbone, released its debut single “Karate.”
“Greetings Earthlings !!! We are @starmotherband and we have arrived with our first single ‘Karate,’” he wrote in an Instagram post.
Produced by Matt Noveskey and Kelsey Flanagan and recorded at Orb Recording Studios in Austin, Tex., “Karate” comes ahead of Starmother’s debut album, with a release date yet to be announced by the band.
“Karate is now available across ALL platforms, and we are so excited to bring this to your beautiful ear drums,” Jackson continued in his Instagram post. “We’re an indie band from Austin TX, and need all the support we can get. Please follow our band, listen to our single, and spread the good word!”
Friends and fans have shared their excitement for the new music, with Jackson’s Twilight co-stars Peter Facinelli, Ashley Greene, and Kellan Lutz showing their support for the project by following Starmother’s Instagram profile.
“KARATE IS GONNA GO TRIPLE PLATINUM IN MY HOUSE,” one fan said.
“Was fortunate enough a few years ago to see you two sing at a karaoke bar in Austin,” a second person wrote. “Excited for y’all.”

“Oh thjs [sic] would have done NUMBERS on a twilight soundtrack!!” a third commented. The soundtrack for the first Twilight movie, released in 2008, is often said to have been “ahead of its time” and features songs from Paramore, Muse, Linkin Park, and Mutemath.
The Twilight Saga movie franchise, based on the books by Stephenie Meyer, has grossed over $3 billion over its five releases. In 2026, Bella Swan actress Kristen Stewart revealed that she would be open to revisiting the franchise — but from behind the camera.
“I’ll do the remake,” she told Entertainment Tonight. “I’m doing it! I’m committed!”
