Virgin River has long balanced romance, second chances, and community hurdles. The seventh season picks up directly after the emotional and narrative cliffhangers of Season 6, including Mel and Jack finally tying the knot and facing questions about parenthood, as well as unresolved personal conflicts.
Showrunner Patrick Sean Smith revealed to Tudum that the upcoming season will explore the honeymoon phase of our lead couple after they tied the knot last season.
[Season 7 will] explore the honeymoon phase for them as they’re building their lives on the farm, which can come with its own obstacles. Mel came to Virgin River expecting the cabin to be farmhouse chic, and now she’s living in a farmhouse. What does that mean for her character? She continues to be a fish out of water and [is] constantly taking herself out of her comfort zone.
The upcoming season will also take their parenthood journey to the next level with the hope of adoption. While we won’t get to see them possibly going apart, there are plenty of other romantic relationships that the season will explore.
Fans will get to witness Hope and Doc rekindling their romance, Preacher and Kaia coming together, and Lizzie and Denny expecting their first child.
Moreover, apart from Alexandra Breckenridge and Martin Henderson, other actors returning include Tim Matheson, Annette O’Toole, Colin Lawrence, Benjamin Hollingsworth, Zibby Allen, Sarah Dugdale, Marco Grazzini, Kai Bradbury, and Kandyse McClure. Sara Canning and Cody Kearsley will also join the cast this season.
