Sheriff Country will continue to lead off Friday nights, with the Season 2 premiere airing on October 9, at 8/7c, on CBS.

The Fire Country spinoff was renewed in December ahead of Episode 7 airing.

“Two new shows on Friday night have become instant hits with audiences quickly embracing Boston Blue and Sheriff Country across broadcast and streaming,” said Amy Reisenbach, President of CBS Entertainment, in a statement at the time. “These early renewals reflect the power of character-driven storytelling, compelling narratives, and the exceptional talent on both sides of the camera that make these series truly stand out.”

Who’s in the Sheriff Country cast?

Morena Baccarin leads the cast as Sheriff Mickey Fox, a character she originated as in two episodes of Fire Country, both before and after Sheriff Country was ordered to series.

Joining her are Matt Lauria (Nathan Boone), W. Earl Brown (Wes Fox), Christopher Gorham (Travis Fraley), and Michele Weaver (Cassidy Campbell) as Season 1 series regulars. Amanda Arcuri (Mickey’s daughter Skye) and Ian Quinlan (Hank) are joining them as regulars for Season 2, Deadline reported on April 9.

Sheriff Country is executive produced by Max Thieriot (who leads Fire Country), Tony Phelan, Joan Rater, and Matt Lopez, and Jerry Bruckheimer and KristieAnne Reed for Jerry Bruckheimer Television. The series is produced by CBS Studios.

What is Sheriff Country about?

The series, set in the small town of Edgewater, California, centers on Sheriff Mickey Fox, who “investigates criminal activity while navigating complex family dynamics.”

What will happen in Sheriff Country Season 2?

The first order of business will, of course, be seeing how Mickey and the DEA’s Santos (Rachel Ticotin), also her mother, work together to take down a Bulgarian cartel, alongside Wes; it was a big surprise for Wes to find that the person who had enlisted him for just that was the woman he thought was dead and for Mickey to learn that her mother was alive in the finale.

“One of the things we’ll unpack at the beginning of Season 2 is to what extent was Eva Santos trying to learn what kind of person her daughter is. She has been cut off from her daughter for years for reasons that we’ll get into and will become very clear. And I think the decision that she made all those years ago to leave Wes and Mickey, while it was a brutally hard decision and one that I think Eva has regrets about to this day, when the audience sees all the reasons that went into it, it’s not as simple as black and white,” showrunner Matt Lopez told TV Insider. “She was dealta very bad hand of cards and she played it the best she could and believed she was doing what was best for her daughter. And we can question that decision and Mickey will question it.”
