Another Reagan is coming to BOSTON BLUE.
“TVLine can reveal that Will Estes will reprise his BLUE BLOODS role as Jamie, brother of Donnie Wahlberg’s Danny Reagan, in an upcoming episode of the CBS spin-off,” TV Line reported.
Estes is the fourth BLUE BLOODS actor to show up on BOSTON BLUE, joining Bridget Moynahan (Erin), Len Cariou (Henry) and Will Hochman (Joe Hill).
Moynahan also directed the premiere episode of BOSTON BLUE.
“Just when I think I have my storyline broken down and understand what other characters are doing and I’m doing as a producer, she’s like, ‘But there’s another layer,’ and I’m like, ‘I didn’t think about that!’” Wahlberg told The Hollywood Reporter. “She’s so thorough and comes at it from an actor’s standpoint, but also from having been part of BLUE BLOODS, understanding an ensemble and knowing how to mine each character.”
The actor has been vocal about wanting to launch more spin-offs in the BLUE BLOODS universe.
“What’s Erin gonna do? What [is] Janko up to? I’m doing my part to answer those questions in BOSTON BLUE, but that doesn’t mean there isn’t room to expand the universe beyond Boston,” Wahlberg teased.
There’s also been talk of bringing Tom Selleck’s Frank Reagan in for a cameo.
“We’ve been talking about Mr. Selleck for a long time,” Sonequa Martin-Green, who plays Danny’s partner, Detective Lena Silver, told Woman’s World. “He is always getting asked and as Donnie always says, the door’s open.”
She continued, “We would love to have him and we will make sure the story is just right because Tom is so adamant about the story, as he should be and as we all should be. I think it would be great if we can have him and I’m excited for whatever story it ends up being if he does come.”
“I think I love when anybody from BLUE BLOODS comes over because I really believe that it legitimizes us,” Martin-Green explained, adding, “It’s almost like they give us their blessing when they come on and we make sure they know that. We applaud them, we give them standing ovations. We’re, like, ‘Thank you for coming,’ because we know we’re standing on their shoulders.”
BOSTON BLUE Season 2 premieres Friday, Oct. 9, on CBS, and streams next day on Paramount+.
