There’s been Young Sheldon and there’s been adult Sheldon, but another Sheldon may not work canonically, at least according to one of the series’ stars.
Raegan Revord, who played Sheldon Cooper’s twin sister Missy in the CBS sitcom from 2017 until its 2024 finale and reprises the role in Georgie & Mandy’s First Marriage, shared why she thinks a Sheldon cameo in the new series — which takes place in the same, ever-growing Big Bang Theory universe — may not be entirely possible.
Georgie & Mandy, which is set in the mid ’90s and centers around Sheldon’s older brother Georgie Cooper (Montana Jordan) and wife Mandy McAllister (Emily Osment), takes place between the events of both Young Sheldon and The Big Bang Theory.
So while fans of the universe may want to see actor Iain Armitage reprise his role as the fictional brainiac, Revord explained in a new interview with Entertainment Tonight why she thinks it wouldn’t necessarily make sense in the overall Big Bang timeline.
“That would be so much fun, but I feel like if, because they’re sticking to the Big Bang Theory lore and everything, because the whole thing in The Big Bang Theory is Georgie and Sheldon don’t talk, because they kind of have a rift between them after [their father] George dies,” Revord, 17, said.
“And so if they’re sticking to that, I feel like it wouldn’t make sense for Sheldon to come back,” she added.

Still, Revord isn’t ruling anything out.
“But who knows? Maybe they’ll find a loophole,” she said. “They have found loopholes before. Maybe they’ll find one again.”
Armitage hasn’t ruled out any appearances on Georgie & Mandy either, telling ET in 2024 that he was “always” down to make an appearance.
“They don’t even need me stepping in and intruding,” the actor, 17, added at the time. “But I’m excited to see what they do. I would love to step in for an episode.”

Revord added that she “just finished filming” the second season of Georgie & Mandy, which is set to premiere in October.
As she explained, the new season will also feature Zoe Perry (Mary Cooper).
“It was a lot of fun,” said Revord, who also has a new novel, Rules for Fake Girlfriends, out Sept. 2. “I loved it. I missed everyone so much. It’s a great storyline.”
It’s been a major year for the Young Sheldon crew, too.
Jordan, 22, married his real-life love Jenna Weeks in a “classic cowboy” themed Texas wedding in June. His sitcom costars were in attendance, including Revord, who told ET that the weekend was “so emotional.”
“I was like, ‘I don’t know if I’m gonna cry.’ Like, I could not tell you. I might, I might not. And then the reception stars and he walks in,” Revord recalled. “I started sobbing. Immediately.”
“Honestly, I’m so proud of him,” she added. “He’s just done so well and he has such an amazing head on his shoulders.”
As for Rules for Fake Girlfriends, Revord’s debut novel follows Avery Blackwell, a girl who attends her mom’s alma mater, Brighton College. The protagonist meets Charlie, a girl who asks her to pretend to be her girlfriend and becomes her aid in finishing a scavenger hunt that her mother left behind. As she revealed to ET, she wrote some of it on set of Young Sheldon.
